For years, the child care was a responsibility linked to the mother and the labor of the father was bring money and food to the house, unlinked to the parenting. The mother was the responsible of brings up the child and of the maintenance of the home, she was the principal authority in the house, until the father come back home. When this was happening, all the house had to start to work around the presence of the father.

This is a case of a typical family. For other side, was the uniparental family, that for a long time was seen like something bad and prohibited. In this families, generally, the father was the person who leaves, leaving the custody of the child to the mother.

Today, there are some points that has not changed so much. Although now the presence of mother and father are more equality, there still the stereotype of the mother taking care of the children and the father bringing money home. Today, besides breeding the kids, the mother go out to work and the father takes care of the children too.

In the case of divorced families, the custody of the kids generally goes to the mother, who is seen for the society like a person more apt for the labor, while the father is in charge of the economic maintenance of them. There are situations in where the relationship between the father and the mother are good, so with the kids too, but in other situations, in which the relationship had a bad ending, It’s almost impossible to the father to see his children when he wants. Because of that, today are more and more fathers who wants a equal treatment in the childcare, who created movements and try to be more present in the life of his kids, although not be living with them.

In conclusion we still have a very long way to go, but with a few more steps, we can make a change.
